A recent report came out on the effect of mobile devices on the state of news media. In the report, it states that online news has surpassed the print news media and nearly half of that is from the use of mobile devices. What this means is that the standard printed news papers have seen a great hit in sales and a gigantic rise in digital media consumption. This pushes news companies to follow the guidelines set by device developers (i.e. Apple, Google, etc.) in order to stay with current media delivery. This can push the rate at which news is delivered to viewers to read and catch up on major events that they might see on their favorite blogging site or television. About 47% of all Americans read the news through a mobile device, 7% of the reported owning a tablet, which will result in a 1,000 jobs lost in news companies.
This can be a blessing to those who are looking into getting a mobile website developed. Keeping up with news and media consumption is important with all of the Facebook updates, twitter posts and so on.
