I want to preface this post by wishing health and wellness to all during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
It certainly has changed the way most of us go about our lives and the way we do business. Whether working remotely, adjusting travel plans, or embracing social distancing just to name a few, it has been quite the adjustment. But, should you stop marketing your business because of the current situation? I will provide our take on it, but the quick answer is an emphatic No!
When things calm down there will undoubtedly be pent up demand for your products and services. To some degree portions of lost sales from the initial down month or two will be gained back when the storm passes. This means maintaining your business’ online marketing during this time will ensure your business can compete for its share or more of the market when the current situation eases and returns to normal.
This brings me to my next point. Maintaining your business’ online marketing now could very well be the difference maker so your business may gain an even larger market share upon normalization. There may be other businesses or competitors which may decide to pullback or eliminate their marketing campaigns altogether during this time and that strategy will likely come at the expense of lost market share. That's never a good thing for a business. So, maintaining your online marketing during this time may prove to be a big competitive advantage in the form of increased market share.
My last point will speak to which marketing objective will best help create an advantage for your business? We firmly believe emphasizing your brand and building brand awareness will yield great long-term benefits for your business in this current environment. This can be a powerful strategy and theme when implemented in your social media marketing campaigns. Currently, Social Media platforms are benefiting tremendously from increased traffic patterns as online usage activity soars. It’s a good idea to keep your brand in front of all of those potential customers that are now online in record numbers.
To restate, as communities do their part to follow official guidelines to combat the spread of and eliminate COVID-19 from our communities, people will naturally be online more than ever because of it. Current trends of working remotely, social distancing and staying connected with friends, families and colleagues online provides an unprecedented opportunity to maintain and gain exposure of your business’ brand in front of a far greater online audience than ever before. This will create the opportunity to gain market share in the markets you serve as many more potential future customers will have been exposed to your brand, business and offerings online.
We continue to work diligently for our clients by marketing their respective brands and businesses aggressively online during this time. Are you doing what’s necessary compete and stay relevant?
